Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 20, 2026
DualLang ("the Extension") is a browser extension that displays translated text alongside original content on web pages. Your privacy matters to us, and this policy explains exactly what data the Extension handles and how.
Data We Collect
DualLang does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. We do not have user accounts, analytics, or tracking of any kind.
Data Processed Locally
The Extension processes the following data entirely within your browser:
- Text content on the web pages you visit, in order to display translations
- Your chosen target language and extension preferences, stored in your browser's local storage
This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us.
Third-Party Translation Services
To provide translations, text segments from the pages you visit are sent to third-party translation APIs (Google Translate and/or MyMemory). These requests are made directly from your browser. DualLang does not operate any intermediary servers. Please refer to the privacy policies of those services for details on how they handle data:
Permissions
The Extension requests the following browser permissions:
- activeTab / host permissions — to read page content and inject translations
- scripting — to run the translation overlay on web pages
- storage — to save your language preferences locally
- contextMenus — to provide right-click translation options
Limited Use Disclosure
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children's Privacy
DualLang does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
